Renowned Scholar in Egypt Charged With Espionage

An Egyptian court sentenced the ousted Egyptian President Mohammed Morsi to Death. The ruling applies to another 106 people, among them, is the editor-in-chief of The Oxford Encyclopedia of Islam and the professor of political science Emad Shahin. Professor Shahin was sentenced in absentia to death in the case where he was accused of colluding with Iran and the Palestinian group Hamas to destabilize Egypt. Professor Shahin currently lives in the US and is visiting professor at Georgetown University's School of Foreign Service.
