Several [Slovenian] universities plan to protest against the planned reform on legislation by the Slovenian Ministry of Education. According to The Slovak Spectator, the reforms intend to limit universities autonomy and their academic activities.
The Ministry also has proposed budget cuts.
Responding to the amendment, Trnava University, one of the oldest universities in Slovakia declared that the institution is ready to start a strike. The University representatives later joined students, calling for a withdrawal of the draft amendment; and launching an open negotiations with the representatives of academia, which will result in seeking constructive solutions, as reported by the TASR newswire.
